These are the terms we work to. They are also printed on every quote we send, so nothing here should be a surprise by the time you are deciding.

Quotes

• Surveys and quotes are free, and there is no obligation attached to either.
• A quote is a fixed price for the work described on it, valid for 60 days.
• If we missed something at survey, that is our problem and the price holds. If something genuinely could not have been seen — rot behind a panel, a ceiling that proves to be unsound — we stop, show you, and agree the extra in writing before doing it.
• Paint is listed separately at trade cost unless you are supplying your own.

Your right to cancel

Because we agree work in your home or over the phone rather than at a trade counter, the Consumer Contracts Regulations 2013 give you 14 days to cancel from the day you accept the quote, for any reason or none. You do not have to tell us why. Email or call and that is enough.

If you want us to start within those 14 days — which most people do — we need you to ask for that in writing. There is a line on the quote for exactly this. If you then cancel part-way through, you pay for the work done up to that point and nothing more.

We would rather explain this than bury it: without that written request we are not supposed to start, and if we did and you cancelled, neither of us would be in a sensible position.

Deposits and payment

• Nothing is due when you accept a quote.
• On larger jobs we ask for a materials deposit before the start date, invoiced properly.
• The balance is due on completion, after we have walked the job with you.
• We are not VAT registered, so the quoted figure is the final figure.

Access and dates

We confirm a start and finish date in writing. If something changes at our end, you hear it from us as soon as we know rather than on the morning. We ask the same in return — if the property will not be ready, a day's notice saves everyone a wasted trip.

Putting things right

At the end we walk every room with you and list anything that needs another look. We come back and do it. If something we painted fails because of how we painted it, tell us and we will put it right.
