Interior painting and decorating
Walls, ceilings and woodwork in London homes — prepared properly, cut in by hand, two coats as standard.
Most of what we do. A room gets emptied or sheeted, filled, caulked and sanded before a brush goes anywhere near it, because the preparation is what you are actually paying for — paint only ever looks as good as the surface underneath it.
How a typical room goes
Day one is preparation. Sheets down, sockets loosened, and every defect in the surface dealt with — hairline cracks raked open and filled, blown plaster cut out, nail holes stopped, the caulk line along skirting and architrave renewed. This is the part that separates a job that looks good for a decade from one that looks tired in a year.
Day two is ceilings and walls. Cut in by hand at the cornice, around switches and along the skirting, then rolled. Two coats, with proper drying time between them.
Day three is woodwork. Skirting, architrave, doors, window boards and any panelling — sanded back, knots sealed, undercoated and finished. Water-based eggshell for most rooms, since it stays white instead of yellowing the way oil gloss does in a north-facing room.
Then everything goes back where it came from.
